October Update

As I look back on October, I didn’t do much birding, oddly. The weather was fantastic but I was busy. Spoiler alert, I have a new book coming out and that took a decent amount of time. I’m also volunteering in a few places and before I knew it, poof, the month was over. I hope you enjoy the selection of birds I did see and photograph this month all the same. Have a great day.

American Coot looks coot. I mean cute. I saw this one all by itself, which is unusual in my experience and I saw it in a place I’ve never seen them before. So all around unexpected yet happy sighting.

Another unusual sighting for me, a Trumpeter Swan and Mute Swan hanging out together. According to the naturalist at this park. the two swan groups have been vying for territory for quite awhile. Maybe they came to terms they can agree on, finally!

Eastern Bluebird looking classically beautiful in morning sun. That day I was chasing an Eastern Meadowlark for a video which I did not get. But this bluebird is a pretty nice consolation prize all the same.

And finally, a classic Song Sparrow photo for your enjoyment. I thought this was a different type of sparrow when I started taking a video and so I have a LOT of Song Sparrow video from this particular morning, if you ever need any for any reason. :)
